Televes launches first portable full HD field meter on market
All equipment from the H45 range can be upgraded for the MPEG-4 service
Santiago de Compostela, 14th December 2009.The Televes H45 portable field meter continues to make history. This revolutionary equipment, the first of its kind to incorporate digital processing, has now been updated with a new feature: the MPEG-4 service demodulation in 1080p format – full HD.
The H45 is the first portable field meter on the market to provide this service. In addition, it demodulates the digital audio standards used by most operators (Dolby AC3, Dolby DD+, EAC3, AAC… ) and is compatible with all DVB formats: DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB-S and DVB-S2.
Televes has incorporated Full HD as an optional service on new versions of its H45 meter, but also allows any user who already has a H45 meter to update the necessary hardware to enjoy this technology. Indeed, scalability (i.e. the possibility of progressively upgrading the equipment) is one of the characteristics that differentiate the range of portable field meters with Televes digital processing.
1080p is the standard associated with full HD. The figure 1080 represents the number of lines on the vertical display resolution, and “p” stands for progressive scanning, as opposed to interlaced scanning, used in the 1080i standard.
The difference between 1080p and 1080i is that with the “p” format each freeze-frame is composed of all the lines, while with the “i” format it is made up of just half of them (odd or even lines).
At the forefront of measuring
The incorporation of the H45 range of Full HD demodulation services reaffirms Televes’ position at the forefront of the development of professional measuring equipment. The launch of the first H45’s in 2008 was a genuine world first, as they were the first to incorporate digital processing into a portable field meter, providing professional installers with a hitherto unknown speed and accuracy in their work.
H45 portable field meters are manufactured at Televes’ own production plants and carry the European Technology Made in Europe label, to guarantee their reliability and technological innovation, a characteristic which has always defined the company’s products, and which is the fruit of a history spanning more than 50 years, as well as the company’s industrial capacity and its strong commitment to Research, Development and Innovation (RDI).
