Tomorrow’s television arrives in the United Kingdom and Ireland thanks to HDTV Tour

Fri, 02/10/2009

Following its journey through Spain and Portugal, the TELEVES mobile unit has an extensive itinerary through the British Isles planned for the month of October.

The aim of the initiative is to offer technicians and installation engineers information regarding the technological features of high definition television.

With its HDTV Tour, TELEVES confirms its status as global leader in the development and manufacturing of reception devices and the distribution of radio-television signals.

Internet users can follow the tour at the website www.hdtv-tour.com

Santiago de Compostela, 2nd of October, 2009. After a six month-long tour, which has covered almost all of Portugal and a large part of Spain, the Televes ‘HDTV Tour’ is about to make the leap to the British Isles. The mobile unit designed to offer technicians and installation engineers the technological information regarding high definition television (HDTV) will arrive on the 4th of October at the port of Dover. From there, it will begin a journey which, throughout October, will take it to the main cities of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Televes is confident it will rouse the same level of interest among British television professions as the ‘HDTV Tour’ did in Spain and Portugal, where the mobile unit received a high number of visits from technicians, installation engineers and distributors. Not for nothing does the initiative offer these professionals a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the possibilities of high definition television, the television of the future, and to learn about the technological foundations on which it is built.

In the same way as in Spain and Portugal, the British and Irish version of the ‘HDTV Tour’ will enjoy the active participation of the wide commercial network of TELEVES, and the collaboration of electrical and electronic goods companies. In this way, British and Irish television professionals will not only have a chance to learn about the advantages offered by high definition television and its high sound and image quality, but will also become familiarised with the technology and equipment needed to work with this system.

Among the systems developed by Televes which can be seen at the ‘HDTV Tour’ are the new DAT HD antenna, which offers “intelligent technology”; the H45 portable field meter, the first of its class to feature digital processing, and the T05 modules, which make it possible to configure all sorts of opening credits with exclusive HDTV technology.

A European Tour

The ‘HDTV Tour’ began last April. Up to now, it has travelled through a large part of Spain and almost all of Portugal. During this time, among other initiatives, it has been present at the Telecommunications Installation Engineers (FENITEL) summit, held in Valencia between the 4th and the 6th of April, as well as taking part in the pioneering high definition trial broadcasts by Televisión Española (TVE) from its Castilla y León Territorial Centre, on the 7th and 8th of July.

The tour around the United Kingdom and Ireland will take place throughout October. The ‘HDTV Tour’ will then return to Spain, and in 2010 it will continue its journey through France, Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

An initiative that can be followed ‘on line’

The ‘HDTV Tour’ can be followed step by step by internet users, via the website www.hdtv-tour.com, which contains all the information on dates and places planned for each of the stops. Furthermore, the web will offer a small ‘blog’ on the activities carried out in each of the stages.

With the ‘HDTV Tour’, Televes reaffirms its policy of proximity and support for installers and distributors, at the same time as it ratifies the company’s commitment to high definition as the format for the television of the future. The company is convinced that the generalisation of HDTV is not far away, and that this new format will lead to a new way of enjoying television which was unheard of until now, as a result of the huge improvement in quality it offers. In this way, Televes remains loyal to what have been two of its identifying traits throughout its life: active participation in all large international initiatives in order to make progress in radio-television technology, and the commitment to make these technologies accessible to all homes.

A business model based on the technological development

Televes is a global company, leader in design and development of telecommunications products, systems and services for home and related sectors. It heads up a group of technological companies and it is settled in more than 80 countries; it has 20 affiliates in industrial and services sectors and more than 800 employees. TELEVES believes in the sustainable development and in keeping the manufacturing of its products in its own facilities. This way, the company products have the ‘European technology manufactured in Europe’ hallmark, synonym of quality and technological vanguard.
