Peñíscola selects Diginova as the ideal antenna for its historical old quarter

Mon, 12/04/2010

With this low visual impact aerial the Mediterranean town will regain the purity of its skyline.

Santiago de Compostela, 12th april 2010. Peñíscola Town Council has chosen the Diginova antenna, made by Televes, to replace all the existing TV antennas on the buildings in its historical old quarter, in a bid to reduce the visual impact of this kind of installation in an urban area that enjoys listed status.

The municipal council of this town in the Spanish province of Castellón is of the opinion that the proliferation of conventional TV aerials sticking up from the rooftops of the buildings in the old quarter offers a “poor image” that “considerably disfigures and distorts” the skyline of the town’s historical centre, “disrupting its simplicity and purity of form, thereby creating an effect of chaos and an extremely negative visual impact”.

In order to eliminate this negative effect, the town council has launched a project to replace all the antennas on the approximately 500 buildings that make up the old quarter with the Diginova. This state-of-the-art antenna has been designed for optimal digital terrestrial television (DTT) reception, and has an extremely low visual impact due to its small size and being completely encased in a white weatherproof cover.

From a technical standpoint the Diginova is a radome-type aerial consisting of a UHF Yagi type aerial with 10 elements a BIII and FM aerial consisting of a printed dipole. These are connected to an MRD that amplifies UHF (12±1 dB) and allows DAB, BIII and FM crossover in the absence of voltage. It can act as a passive aerial if unpowered, and incorporates an attenuable active source that increases gain by 20dB.
