The output level indicated in the technical sheet for a given channel amplifier is never achieved when it is part of a headend.
It is only possible if intermodulation products are generated.
Why is it not possible to achieve the nominal maximum output level in the headend?
-->The standard DIN45004B specifies the measurement procedures for testing the maximum output level of single channel amplifiers.
The measurement of the maximum output level is carried out only on a single amplifier.
When the channel amplifier is looped-through, the final headend output level is affected by the loss of each link of the chain as well as the internal loss of each amplifier.
That is why the maximum output level of the headend is always lower than that specified in the technical specifications for channel amplifiers.
