FAQ 73-2002-en

I have an SMATV installation consisting of single channel amplifiers and modulators, where adjacent channels are being used.

Some intermodulation effects are detected in some channels but none of the amplifiers exceed their nominal maximum output levels.

Is there an error in any of the amplifiers?

Respuesta:

Modulators that generate a TV channel from audio/video signals and modulators that are built into our SAT/TV receivers generate interference signals that can affect the other channels that are present in that band.

These interference signals may be:

  • Vestiges of the audio carrier.
  • The local oscillator used in the generation of the RF channel.
  • The upper side band.

The use of a single channel amplifier avoids the influence of these interference signals unless the said amplifier is functioning at its maximum output level.

To prevent the effects of these signals we strongly recommend that you adjust each amplifier to 4 dB below its maximum output level.
