Category 5E
Cables and patch-cords Category 5E
Category 5E
The data cable category Cat 5E (enhanced or improved) originates from the Cat 5 and it is backwards compatible, with the standards of the inferior categories (Cat 5 and Cat 3). The 5E category achieves transmission frequencies of up to 100 MHz (in each pair) with a throughput of 100Mbps. This type of cable complies with the standards 10BASE-T and 100BASE-T and will be mainly used in these installations.
They are characterized for:
- Comply with TIA/EIA-568B.2-1
- Transfer rate up to 100Mbps
- Frequency range of up to 100MHz
- Includes rip cord to make it easier to strip the cable
- Nominal impedance of 100 ohms
- Maximum resistance per conductor below 9.38 Ohms/100m
