Televes obtains Marriott certification for its GPON solutions, specifically designed for the Hospitality sector
- The certification of Televes’ GPON equipment by Marriott International marks a turning point for the hotel network solutions offered by the company. It provides a tangible guarantee for hoteliers and integrators that they are implementing a technology proven in the most demanding environments.
- Televes’ GPON solutions facilitate international commercialization in the current context of tariff uncertainty.
- This achievement reinforces Televes’ commitment to developing solutions tailored to the Hospitality sector, where technical performance must go hand in hand with operational reliability.
In the era of hyperconnectivity, telecommunications networks have become the backbone of the modern hotel experience. From digital check-in to ultra-high-definition content streaming and operational management systems, network infrastructures must ensure security, stability, and scalability. In this context, certification standards for telecom equipment in the Hospitality sector have reached unprecedented levels of demand, with Marriott International being one of the most rigorous global benchmarks through its GPNS (Global Property Network Standards) program.
With a presence in over 130 countries, 7,000 hotels, and 1.3 million rooms, Marriott not only establishes advanced technical requirements for its network infrastructures but also implements a certification process that evaluates everything from cybersecurity to integration capabilities with complex technological ecosystems. For a manufacturer, obtaining this certification means passing a filter that combines laboratory testing, on-site audits, and pilots under real operating conditions. It reflects a commitment not only to meeting specifications but also to demonstrating that the solution delivers differential value in an environment where service availability is critical.
This is the case for Televes, a technology leader in tailored telecommunications infrastructure solutions for the hotel sector, which has recently certified its GPON equipment with Marriott. An achievement that will serve as a top-level technical endorsement.
The impact and global reach of Marriott certification
“Marriott certification goes beyond technical recognition to become an accelerator of Televes’ global presence in the hotel market,“ says David Serramiá, Director of the Hospitality Division at Televes, “acting as a quality seal that facilitates entry into projects where certification is an exclusive requirement.” By being included in the approved manufacturers list, Televes’ GPON solutions become eligible not only for new developments but also for infrastructure upgrades across Marriott’s extensive property portfolio.
At the same time, this milestone strengthens the company’s positioning as a specialist in Hospitality solutions, even outside the Marriott ecosystem. Independent hotels and regional chains often take multinational standards as a benchmark when selecting technology. In this way, the certification acts as a multiplier of opportunities in emerging markets, where the digitalization of hotel infrastructures is progressing rapidly.
Televes’ ongoing commitment to manufacturing excellence
Guillermo Fernández, Technical Director of the Hospitality Division at Televes, comments: “Marriott’s certification is not an endpoint, but the start of a continuous improvement cycle.” The rigorous certification process has allowed the Galician company to implement reinforced internal (“in-house”) controls to ensure that every component of the GPON equipment maintains the standards that led to certification. This includes, Guillermo adds, “periodic security reviews, proactive firmware updates, and active monitoring of emerging vulnerabilities”.
This enhances the security of GPON solutions specifically designed for the Hospitality sector, which already stood out for a set of key differentiating benefits, including:
- Expanded capacity: support for up to 16 services across different VLANs (compared to the 8 typically offered by conventional equipment)
- Hotel-specific design: development tailored to the particular infrastructure needs of hotels
- Robust architecture: the GPON layer serves as the foundational infrastructure where other solutions integrate, reducing points of failure
- Remote management: ability to resolve incidents remotely, minimizing downtime
- Enhanced security: thorough evaluation ensuring protection against vulnerabilities
The company is already working on developing new capabilities, such as the upcoming POE ONT (Power Over Ethernet), to be launched in two versions with 4 POE ports delivering power (60W or 120W), along with 2FXS and RF output in each version—a true differentiator for the Hospitality sector.
This new development will expand deployment possibilities in environments where cabling simplification is a priority. It represents an innovation-driven approach perfectly aligned with the evolving needs of the sector, where technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things will demand even more robust and versatile network infrastructures.
